Picture Stories for Grown-Up Kids

Heartwarming stories that remind us how magical life used to be...

I was born right smack dab in the middle of the 1950s, so I was a kid in the 60s and a teen in the 70s. My brother Dub was a year younger than me and we were partners in experiencing everything a 60s childhood had to offer...and then some. We rode our bikes without helmets, drank from the garden hose, played outside all day long unsupervised, pigged out on Twinkies and Hostess Cupcakes, and got spanked when we were sassy or did something really dumb. We were never bored, and if we stupidly made the mistake of mentioning to our mom that we were, she adamantly exclaimed, "If you can't find something to do, I'll give you something to do!"

It was a great time to be a kid. Sure there were bad things going on in the world, but our worries involved steering clear of the neighborhood bully, Junior Smith, and doing the "climb under your desk and cover your head" drills at school. Rarely were we afraid of anything.

Our parents, although they seem strict by today's standards, gave us the freedom to "grow up" on our own.

On this side of it all, grown-up stuff can be pretty tedious. Often adult "noise" can overwhelm.

BlabberTales stories were written and illustrated to remind of a time when things weren't so complicated.

If you find yourself with too much to do and need a break from the world's turbulence, let BlabberTales help you slow down and reflect. If you are a product of a 1960s childhood, you'll so "get it." If not, I promise you'll giggle and wish you were.
